POSITION SUMMARY:

A key resource to support and expand existing customer accounts by generating quotations and cost estimates for customers that promote the company goals for long-term growth and profitability.  Primary responsibilities include cost analysis/rollup and generating quotation documentation as well as maintaining the engineering product development systems and records as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare written quotations and estimates for parts typically not requiring technical review and specify:
    • Costing of product, tooling, engineering effort, and other items
    • Engineering specifications and assumptions
    • Estimated delivery timeline and associated schedules
  • Develop proficiency with Windings’ CRM software, ensuring accurate and complete information is captured.
  • Present quotes to sales team members and others and participate in the company’s sales process and operating management system.
  • Provide direct engineering support in the areas of workflow documentation and creating initial manufacturing bill of materials and routes based on prints to be handed off to an engineer.
  • Create and maintain stock codes for materials, fixtures, components or assemblies within Windings’ ERP system.
  • Develop basic understanding of current production materials and processes.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with all Quality System Requirements
  • Review and maintain documentation for accuracy, completeness, and clarity, and obtaining necessary approvals before release
  • Organize and classify documents to ensure they are easily accessible and that the latest document and print versions are maintained.
  • Implement measures to protect sensitive information and control access to documents
  • Provide assistance to users in understanding and using documentation systems, including answering questions, troubleshooting problems, and providing training.
  • Develop and enforce documentation standards to ensure consistency and quality
  • Assist in maintaining electronic customer print files as required to be in compliance with ISO, AS9100 and other standards, including customer requirements.
  • Lead efforts to implement company best practices and advise internal resources of critical client needs
  • Work closely with the operations and engineering teams to Identify opportunities to reduce cost and lead times
  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Strong independent decision making, problem solving, and analytical ability to make on the spot decisions
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and demonstrate a sense of urgency. Able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and listening skills. Able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite required
  • Multi-level print reading and technical competence
  • A great work ethic and willingness to ethically do what needs to be done
  • Must exhibit a curious, positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach in addition to the ability to be self-motivated when needed
  • Position may require up to 10% travel to customers and trade shows/conference to build relationships, network, develop, and promote the company

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A technical degree or certification preferred

Experience:    
  • 1-2 years’ experience in manufacturing, design, or costing engineering, particularly electric machines and their components preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in technical writing for proposals/quotations or specifications related to product design and testing preferred
