PAY AND BENEFITS
• $5,000.00 Hiring Bonus
• Hourly Pay Range: Up to $47.78 (Pay rates are commensurate with law enforcement experience)
• In addition to normal holiday pay for holidays worked, a December holiday check equal to a full day’s pay for each holiday, 11 total. For example, a five-year officer receives approximately $4,200 annually.
• Annual longevity pay starting at 1.5% after five years of service (≈ $1,490/year for an officer with 5 years of service in Sharonville in 2026), with increased percentages at higher service levels.
• Prior law enforcement service counts toward vacation accrual. Lateral officers accrue vacation based on years of service (for example, eight years equals 127.5 hours annually).
• Officers may choose compensatory time instead of overtime pay, allowing flexibility to bank time off for future use.
• The City offers tuition and textbook reimbursement for eligible, job-related education to support professional development.
• Generous health coverage with the City covering 95% of monthly premium costs for non-tobacco users.

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES
The Sharonville Civil Service Commission will apply extra credit to final passing scores for one (1) of the following categories:
• Twenty percent (20%) – Honorable military service (DD-214 required)
• Fifteen percent (15%) – Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification
• Ten percent (10%) – Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Five percent (5%) – Associate degree
Required documentation must be submitted with the City of Sharonville application by the applicable application deadline. Documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
• Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of completion of the police academy
• Be less than forty-one (41) years of age at the time of original appointment
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Be able to read, write, and speak English
• Have vision correctable to 20/20
DRIVER’S LICENSE AND INSURABILITY
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain insurability in accordance with the City of Sharonville’s insurance carrier throughout employment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Patrol Officers perform a full range of law enforcement duties including, but not limited to:
• Preventive patrol and community policing
• Responding to calls for service
• Enforcement of federal, state, and local laws
• Criminal and traffic investigations
• Preparation of accurate reports and records
• Arrests, court testimony, and evidence handling
• Working varied shifts, holidays, emergencies, and special assignments
