Experienced

Company: Pferd North America
Location: Milwaukee, WI

At PFERD, we know that our success is built on the strength and stability of our team. We’re not just looking for another HR professional, we’re looking for a true partner who is committed to growing with us. This role is designed for someone who values stability, consistency, and meaningful impact rather than chasing their next career move.

As an HR Business Partner, you will play a key role in ensuring our workforce remains engaged, supported, and aligned with our business goals. We take a logical, common-sense approach to HR, focusing on practical, solution-driven strategies that enhance the employee experience and drive results. If you're someone who thrives on operational excellence, long-term problem-solving, and building lasting relationships, we want to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Full-Cycle Recruiting: Manage the entire recruiting process, from talent attraction to retention planning, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Employee Relations: Collaborate with the RDHR to consult on complex employee relations issues, including corrective actions, workplace disputes, and internal investigations.
  • Payroll Management: Oversee bi-weekly payroll for Milwaukee-HQ, ensuring accuracy and compliance for both union and non-union employees.
  • Benefits Administration: Continuously improve and manage benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, FSA, COBRA, worker's compensation, and leave administration.
  • Policy Development: Work with the RDHR to develop and implement processes and policies that promote consistency and organizational effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze HR processes, recommend enhancements, and lead initiatives to optimize efficiency.
  • Employee Support: Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries, providing timely solutions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Termination Process: Oversee the employee termination process, including final paychecks, deactivation of access, and exit interviews.
  • Compliance Audits: Audit and maintain employee records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Training and Development: Support training initiatives by assisting with performance feedback and providing resources for managers and employees.
  • HRIS Support: Provide HRIS support, including troubleshooting and process improvement recommendations.
  • Additional Projects: Handle and support additional HR projects as needed.

What you will need:

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated success in a generalist or HR business partner capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Proven expertise in HRIS platforms; UKG Ready experience highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment and labor laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information and resolve conflicts tactfully.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think logically and execute tactically, balancing big-picture planning with day-to-day operational excellence.

What Will Set You Apart

  • A proven history of commitment—we’re not looking for someone who jumps roles every couple of years to climb the corporate ladder.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting, particularly with union and labor relations.
  • UKG Ready experience.

At PFERD, we’re committed to building a team that stays, grows, and thrives. If you’re ready to put down roots and make a real impact, let’s talk.

PFERD Inc. is committed to the principles of equal employment. We are committed to complying with all federal, state, and local laws providing equal employment opportunities, and all other employment laws and regulations.
