Position Summary: The finance director provides overall direction for all financial management, planning, accounting, and budgeting functions. This position develops financial procedures and directs their implementation. They also manage all financial and accounting activities, develop financial forecasts, oversee the annual audit, and manage accounting staff and contractors.

Position Summary: The finance director provides overall direction for all financial management, planning, accounting, and budgeting functions. This position develops financial procedures and directs their implementation. They also manage all financial and accounting activities, develop financial forecasts, oversee the annual audit, and manage accounting staff and contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to organizational leadership and the Board.
- Oversee annual external audits, tax preparation, and federal, state, and funder audits or reviews.
- Manage annual NICRA indirect cost rate negotiations for federal grants.
- Partner with the Operations Director on financial management, accounting, budgeting, and planning.
- Build staff capacity in budget management, work planning, problem-solving, and financial decision-making.
- Develop and maintain effective financial systems, models, and structures for contracts, grants, and indirect cost rates.
- Advise leadership and the Board on resource allocation and financial strategy.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, funder requirements, audits, and reporting obligations.
- Identify and mitigate organizational risks related to finance, HR, policy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer, Finance Committee, Board, and staff leadership to support strong financial governance and fiduciary oversight.
- Participate in the annual performance review as directed.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with or in lieu of a relevant degree.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, financial management, audits, expense calculations, and forecasting.
- Experience leading teams, projects, or organizational initiatives.
- Proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Mac OS.
- Experience communicating, coaching, training, and mentoring staff and Board members on financial management.
