The Controller is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial reporting and close processes. This role oversees core accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, fixed assets, and internal controls, while partnering with business leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. The Controller ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements and serves as a key liaison for external auditors, helping strengthen financial processes and decision-making across the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including review/approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
· Ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and timely in accordance with GAAP and corporate reporting requirements.
· Prepare and/or review monthly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and commentary for management.
· Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies/procedures; ensure consistent application across transactions and reporting.
· Oversee key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets; ensures appropriate documentation and reconciliation support.
· Direct day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, Credit, billing, collections, and payroll coordination as applicable) to support accurate transaction processing and cash flow.
· Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles; partners with department leaders to develop assumptions, analyze trends, and track performance.
· Coordinate external audits and reviews; prepares schedules, supports requests, and serves as primary liaison with auditors.
· Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements as applicable (e.g., sales/use tax filings, property tax support, and other reporting).
· Provide financial analysis to support business decisions, including trend analysis, KPI reporting, and ad hoc modeling.
· Own the financial systems environment for accounting (ERP/general ledger and related tools), including master data governance and process improvements in partnership with IT.
· Prepare management reports, analyze variances to budget/forecast, and communicate insights and risks to leadership with actionable recommendations.
· Lead and develop the accounting team (as applicable), providing coaching, prioritization, and cross-functional partnership while delivering strong internal customer service.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· CPA (preferred) or other relevant professional certification (e.g., CMA).
· 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for close, financial reporting, and internal controls
· 3 – 5+ years managing experience
· Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial accounting regulations.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
· Demonstrated ability to document, implement, and improve accounting processes, controls, and policies.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for non-finance partners.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS
· This is a primarily sedentary position involving long periods of sitting and working on a computer in a climate-controlled environment. Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk, talk, or hear. Uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.
· Ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to gather and input job information on a computer. Moderate to advanced skills in Excel, ERP systems, and fixed asset software required.
· Reading and comprehension. Ability to interpret and analyze data from company generated, industry, and financial reports. Evaluate and analyze international currency data.
· Responsibilities require the ability to complete moderately complex mathematical computations, budgeting, financial closures, forecasting, and foreign currency conversions.
· Regular and reliable attendance.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
· Computer/sedentary position.
· Intermittently will have to go onto the production floor resulting in exposure to loud noises, sparks, fumes, chemicals, and heavy equipment.
· Position will mainly be in a temperature control office space.
· May lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds on rare occasion.
· Occasional travel may be required.
