About: Maynard Steel Casting Company is a family-owned, non-union foundry that produces high-quality casting, for the mining industry. We are looking for a Crane Operator to join our management team.

Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Crane Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate a 50-ton overhead crane to lift, transport, and position materials and steel castings on the cleaning room floor, as needed by setup personnel, welders, scarfers, grinders, machine operators, and other staff members. Your responsibilities will include ensuring all lifts are performed safely and efficiently, checking hitching methods, advising on safety during lifts and quenches, conducting daily safety inspections, and promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions to your supervisor. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of crane operations, and safety protocols, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the team.

Shifts Available: 2nd shift (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm) and 3rd shift available (6:00 pm- 2:00 am)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop the ability to estimate the weight of objects by sight to ensure the correct hook is used.
  • Understand crane mechanics and operations to perform daily inspections.
  • Safely operate an electromagnet, main and auxiliary hooks, and be knowledgeable of the height limits for both the hooks and magnet.
  • Understand which hooks to use for handling magnets, moving steel castings, luger boxes, and performing heat quenches.
  • Be familiar with all hand signals used on the floor for communication.
  • Service workstations efficiently and safely.
  • Follow all Maynard Safety rules and guidelines and proactively address any obvious hazards in the work area, even if no specific safety rule or policy is in place.
  • Learn to operate all overhead cranes in the cleaning room.
Qualifications:
  • Highschool Diploma required
  • 1 year of experience operating cranes in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Successful completion of depth perception screening to ensure safe operation of cranes.
  • Knowledge of crane operations, including setup, maintenance, and safety protocols.
