JOB SUMMARY

Inspect, diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul truck, trailer, and mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, conveyors, and forklifts.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform all work assigned in a safe, well-managed manner and ensure the area is safe and clean.
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
• Properly diagnose malfunctions. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and tools.
• Schedule and perform all maintenance tasks on a timely basis.
• Keep all DOT inspections on trucks and trailers current.
• Maintain records for each vehicle showing service intervals and repairs.
• Communicate actively with the Manager to coordinate work and provide updates on work in progress.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and orderly fashion.
• Report any accidents or injuries immediately.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Associate degree in Industrial Mechanics or a combination of training and experience that provides equivalent skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Minimum of 3 years of training and/or experience as a truck/trailer mechanic.
• Knowledge of DEF systems is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required; Class A license is a plus.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Physical strength and endurance to perform all duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to work safely and cooperatively.
• Punctuality and regular attendance required.

Physical Requirements

• Physical exertion required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, and controls.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to communicate verbally and effectively with others required.
