Summary of Position:
KSM Industries, Inc., is a sheet metal fabricator located in Germantown, WI and we supply a wide variety of weldments, fabrications and enclosures for Original Equipment Manufacturers.  Our contract manufacturing business is growing and we have an opportunity for an experienced Cost Estimator to join our team of professionals.
The Cost Estimator position will be responsible for identifying all of the various components and costs that go into the manufacture of custom sheet metal parts, including materials, labor and outside services or components. 
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (sheet metal fabrication experience preferred) and be a critical thinker with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Estimator Job Duties:
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, materials, and labor cost estimates for the entire project, from laser, form, weld, paint and assembly.
  • Consult with clients, Company engineers, estimators, personnel in other departments, and vendors to resolve issues and formulate estimates
  • Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
  • Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, and track actual costs relative to bids.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent; or 2-4 years related experience
  • A technical aptitude with strong math skills and the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite. Prior experience with an ERP system is helpful (Global Shop Solutions preferred).
  • Must have the ability to read and understand detailed customer drawings and prints.  Solidworks or other CAD experience helpful.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
