About: Maynard Steel Casting Company is a family-owned, non-union foundry that produces high-quality castings for the mining industry. We are looking for an experienced Welding Supervisor to join our management team.

Job Overview: We are seeking a Welding Supervisor to join our team. The Welding Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities within the welding department. This includes communicating expectations, building accountability, and delivering desired results in the areas of safety, quality, and delivery. Duties:
  • Directly supervise all employees within the area(s) of responsibility.
  • Monitor the quality of items produced, using established inspection techniques and Statistical Process Control, to ensure that products meet customer requirements. Troubleshoot all non-conformances associated with welding and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor the productivity and efficiency of the department to ensure that the production schedule and customer delivery timelines are met efficiently and effectively. Conduct QC audits as needed.
  • Perform normal production welding when necessary, primarily specialty welding.
  • Initiate recommendations for training, wage adjustments, discipline, and other employee matters. Participate in the creation of company policies that affect department employees.
  • Promote and enforce all aspects of the Safety Program, including completing injury reports, investigating accidents and near misses, managing emergencies, and ensuring that all direct reports receive appropriate safety training.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding company processes, customer product development, company finances, and other confidential information.
Qualifications:
  • Welding degree or Welding Engineering Studies, or a minimum of 5 years of progressive welding experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication; experience in a “job shop” environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the operations and settings of FCAW-G, CAC (required), GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW (preferred) to weld carbon steels with low to high carbon content, varying thicknesses, and alloys using single or multipass welds.
  • Knowledge of measuring devices, gauges, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating or maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
