Under direct supervision of the Worker’s Compensation Claims Manager, this position is responsible for customer service and general clerical administrative duties related to Worker’s Compensation claims administration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Handles or refers telephone, written, and e-mail inquiries from members and others.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Codes, scans, and attaches claim bills/records and correspondence into Kofax/Origami. 
  • Follows-up on medical bills sent to Optum that were not returned.
  • Enters new claims and providers into Origami.
  • Orders Medical Records for new claims where treatment was sought.
  • Enters new Stress claims.
  • Forwards incoming faxes to recipients.
  • Verifies if identified claim was reported by member.
  • Verifies non-current bills to avoid duplication.
  • Subrogation entry into Origami/CCAP searches.
  • Reviews EOB and Payment Processes (Optum/Smartview).
  • Reviews Origami claims entry with new member onboarding.
  • Prints and mails large volume correspondence on behalf of the Claims Specialists.
  • Enters payments for Claims Specialists (checks and vouchers).
  • Reviews, runs, and distributes OSHA reports annually to members.
  • Provides back-up to the other administrative assistants as needed.
  • Provides back-up check printing as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma;
  • The equivalent of one year of technical or business school training;
  • One year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience working in the insurance industry is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of:
  • Office principles and practices;
  • Basic office machines and computer software;
  • Proficient use of computers and computer software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, claims software and other business software.
Ability to:
  • Read and interpret documents such as medical records and legal documents.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Handle sensitive situations in a professional manner that reflects favorably upon the member and CVMIC.
  • Effectively work as a member of a team, coordinating and completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Communicate professionally, timely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
