GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Paper Stacker/ Saw Operator is responsible for creating a safe work environment and operating assigned machinery including saws. This position is responsible for safely setting up, operating and maintain the saw and work area to meet both internal and external customer needs. Individual in this role is detail oriented in ensuring work product meets client specifications as indicated in the work order. This individual is a part of a team environment focused on safely creating products and services that meet and exceed our customers’ expectations in an efficient manner. This position collaborates with management and manufacturing personnel ensuring an excellent product to the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Setup appropriate machinery per job specifications ensuring safety, quality and appropriately applying lean strategies.
- Required to log into jobs and record production data. This includes closing open work orders and whipping orders to finished good for shipping.
- Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
- Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes.
- Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.
- Responsible for machine change over and appropriate material setup.
- Examine work area at beginning and ending of each shift and during any machine changeover for safety and proper operations.
- Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
- Safely and efficiently prepares material for shipping. This includes proper identification, tagging and wrapping.
- Required to be a team player and collaborate with various departments to meet customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- One-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software, preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, outlook and excel), preferred.
- Drivers License, preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to stand greater than 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to walk greater than 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to sit less than 1/3 of the time.
- Ability to use hands greater than 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms 1/3 – 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to climb or balance 1/3 – 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 1/3 – 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to talk and hear greater than 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to push or pull up to 50 pounds 1/3 – 2/3 of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 – 2/3 of the time.
